It feels like so much has happened in the last 48 hours since we became the new owners of what was Atika III and is now officially Mossy Joe!

On Friday morning we set sail (actually motor) from Genoa Marina with Marc and Claudia, the then owners, their beautiful dog Gallileo and Catherine the Yacht Broker, and out at sea we signed the papers and celebrated with Champagne (and Ricard of course!)

When we got back to Genoa Marina, Jacques made haste in the re-branding of Atika III to new and shiny Mossy Joe. When the new name was ‘unveiled’ it was to say the least a very emotional moment, the boat’s new name the nicknames, and in honour of, both of our Dads. Mossy and Joe would both have been dumbfounded to have a yacht named after them and although neither of them were ‘boat’ people they both had passion for the sea.

Since then we have been spent time with Marc and Claudia trying to soak up as much of their knowledge as possible ‘What does this button do?’ ‘How does the watermaker work?’ ‘How do we launch and retrieve the dinghy?’ and many, many more questions.

Marc, Claudia and Gallileo left us this afternoon and we owe a huge thank you to them. This was more than just a financial transaction, their kindness and generosity of spirit has made this venture, albeit very exciting, much less overwhelming. We still have much to learn but we know they are on hand (well in Switzerland!) to answer any more questions and give guidance where we need it.
